We made it to Boston and after checking into our hotel, Courtyard Boston Downtown, we decided to stretch our legs outdoors.
I hadn’t been back to Boston in about eight years, and I couldn’t wait to revisit everything. Boston Common was luckily a short walk from the hotel.
Through the common you can walk to the even prettier Boston Public Garden.
Walk around the duck pond enough and you’ll find the bench where Robin Williams gave the famous “Good Will Hunting” speech to Matt Damon.
When I was little my grandma took me to the Public Garden to ride on the swan boats–and they still run up and down the pond.
Find a quiet space, stretch out in the grass, and watch all the people and ducks go by.
But what I was really excited about our first night in Boston was our dinner at Saltie Girl, a restaurant that specializes in seafood–specifically the tinned variety.
Naturally, we started out with some. Sardines from Spain so delicious we ended up ordering some for ourselves on Amazon!
We followed up with something fresher–oysters.
A hamachi loin crudo with pineapple.
Followed by an unexpectedly amazing dish of toasted gnocchi with caviar. Perfectly toasty on the outside–fluffy and scrumptious on the inside.
Don’t worry that the plates seem light and small–if you get any of the tinned seafood you’ll easily fill up on all of the bread that comes with it!
They cap the meal off with a little magic trick.
Saltie Girl was an amazing meal–with impressive dishes from both land and sea. They don’t take reservations, so just pop by if you’re in the Back Bay area!
